General terms and conditions of sale and house rules
Effective date: January 1, 2017 — Last updated: May 14, 2026
I. General terms and conditions of sale
1. Purpose and scope
These general terms and conditions of sale apply exclusively to bookings made directly with Hôtel de l'Étoile, by telephone, by e-mail at contact@hoteletoile.com, on the website www.hoteletoile.com or at the hotel reception.
They do not apply to bookings made through travel agencies, online travel agencies or any other third-party platform. In such cases, the contractual terms and conditions of the relevant intermediary shall apply.
Any direct booking implies the customer's full and unconditional acceptance of these terms and conditions.
2. Prices, taxes and additional services
Prices communicated by the hotel are expressed in euros, including all taxes, unless otherwise stated. Tourist tax is not subject to VAT and is charged separately where applicable.
Unless otherwise stated in the confirmed offer, tourist tax, breakfast, garage parking, pets, extra beds and any other supplement or optional service are charged in addition to the room price.
3. Booking, bank guarantee and payment
The booking becomes firm after written confirmation by the hotel and, where requested, after provision of a valid bank card, payment of a deposit or advance payment.
The hotel may request a bank card as a guarantee. A pre-authorisation may be carried out before or during the stay in order to cover payment for the stay, services consumed and any costs chargeable to the customer.
Full payment for the stay is due no later than the day of arrival, unless special conditions are stated in the booking confirmation or in an accepted quotation.
4. No right of withdrawal
In accordance with the provisions applicable to accommodation services supplied on a specific date or during a specific period, the customer does not benefit from a right of withdrawal for a hotel booking.
5. Individual stays
Stays involving fewer than 5 rooms are considered individual stays.
- Outside the period from June 1 to September 30: free cancellation up to 5 days before arrival, before 11:59 p.m., French time.
- For arrivals between June 1 and September 30: free cancellation up to 8 days before arrival, before 11:59 p.m., French time.
Any cancellation or modification request must be sent in writing, by e-mail or postal mail. The date and time of receipt by the hotel shall be deemed authoritative.
6. Late cancellation, late modification or no-show
Any booking that is not cancelled or modified within the stated deadlines may be charged in full, excluding tourist tax, which is due only where the stay is actually completed.
In the event of a no-show, the hotel may charge the amounts due under the booking, within the limit provided for by the rate conditions confirmed to the customer.
7. Group stays
Stays involving 5 rooms or more are considered group stays. Where the quotation or confirmation provides for special conditions, those conditions shall prevail over these general provisions.
A deposit corresponding to 50% of the total quotation amount may be requested. The balance is due no later than 45 days before the group's arrival, unless otherwise stipulated in the accepted quotation.
8. Personal data, bank details and GDPR
When the customer makes a booking, uses the contact form or contacts the hotel by e-mail, certain information may be requested: name, e-mail address, telephone number and, in order to guarantee a booking, bank details.
This data is used solely to respond to requests, manage bookings, prepare and provide the stay, issue invoices, comply with the hotel's legal obligations and handle any complaints.
Bank details are collected and stored by a secure payment service provider, including SYSPAY and STRIPE, in an environment compliant with PCI DSS standards.
The hotel does not sell or disclose personal data to third parties for commercial purposes. Data may only be transmitted to recipients necessary for managing the booking, the stay, payment, invoicing or compliance with legal obligations.
The data controller is: Hôtel de l'Étoile, 2 Avenue Gambetta, 06600 Antibes, France. Contact: contact@hoteletoile.com.
9. Complaints, mediation and disputes
Any complaint relating to a booking or a stay must first be addressed to the hotel in writing, together with any relevant supporting documents, at contact@hoteletoile.com or by post to the hotel's address.
These terms and conditions are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement or accepted mediation, the dispute may be brought before the competent courts in accordance with ordinary rules of law.
II. House rules
1. Acceptance of the house rules
The house rules apply to any person staying in or moving around the establishment. The customer undertakes to comply with them and to ensure that any accompanying persons also comply with them.
2. Arrival, departure and room access
Unless otherwise agreed in advance with the hotel, rooms are available from 2:00 p.m. on the day of arrival and must be vacated no later than 11:30 a.m. on the day of departure.
The customer must return the access card or key upon departure. In the event of non-return, a replacement fee of €5 may be charged.
3. Guest identification and minors
Any person wishing to stay at the hotel may be asked to provide proof of identity. Minors remain under the sole responsibility of their legal representatives or the adults accompanying them.

5. Children, cots and extra beds
Upon request and subject to availability, the hotel may provide a cot free of charge in rooms where it can be installed. An extra bed may be provided upon request, subject to availability, at a rate of €23 per night, unless a different rate is communicated at the time of booking.
6. Pets
Pets are accepted with a €5 supplement, according to the rate conditions communicated to the customer. They remain under the full responsibility of their owner.
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are accepted under the conditions provided for by applicable regulations, at no additional charge.
7. No-smoking policy, fire safety and dangerous uses
The entire establishment, including rooms, is non-smoking. Smoking or vaping is strictly prohibited in the rooms and indoor areas of the hotel.
In the event of non-compliance, the hotel may charge cleaning and restoration fees currently set at €70, without prejudice to any additional costs in the event of damage.
Any false or improper triggering of the alarm attributable to the customer may result in a charge of €250 corresponding to the cost of resetting the system or intervention, subject to justification.
8. Damage, exceptional cleaning and losses
The customer is responsible for any damage, loss or deterioration caused by themselves, by accompanying persons or by animals under their responsibility.
By way of indication, a minimum flat fee of €100 may be charged in the event of exceptional cleaning. In the event of significant damage, a minimum flat fee of €1,000 may be requested, without prejudice to the actual cost of restoration.
9. Items, furniture and equipment
It is prohibited to remove any item belonging to the hotel, to move furniture without authorisation, or to attach items to walls, doors, ceilings, furniture or equipment.
10. Additional billing
Any consumption, services, supplements or charges not paid at the time of departure may be billed after departure, on the basis of the elements recorded by the hotel.
11. Prohibited activities
The room is intended for temporary accommodation. Any commercial, undeclared professional or unlawful activity, or any activity contrary to the intended use of the room, is prohibited.
